Have a fashion writer coming for dinner tomorrow night. will she scoff if i wear purple tights? is purple dead and gone already? would anything more dressy than jeans be a disaster?

Fashion writers are notoriously snotty and generally make terrible guests. However, you've made your bed... so - the good news is that purple is THE colour of the season, and the better news is that coloured opaque tights are where it's at. I suspect she'll be wearing slim cords (in a mink grey) with fine-gauge cashmere sloppy top (also in mink grey). So wear those coloured tights and show her who's boss! (Jeans are always a staple standby for evenings, but my theory is: why wear them AGAIN when you wear them every day?)
