My skin is extrmely dry and when I apply make-up I find that my foudation and powder stick on the bits of dry skin even after I have exfloiated and moisturised. It looks unsightly and esp as I have flakes of skin with foundation on them that won't come off. Does anyone know of either a moisturiser or make up range that will soak in and prevent flaking skin???

The best thing to cure flaking skin is a moisturizing oil for dry skin. Try BIO OIL, put this on 20 mins before you put on your foundation and you will banish flakyness.
You can also use it on your body too, and I used it all through my pregnancy and have no stretch marks at all!!

We are all brainwashed!Your skin needs to regain balance not to be irratated and suffocated with potions and lotions. It sounds as though your skin is constantly trying to repair itself.Eve Lom saved my skin the difference was immediate. The easy stimulating massage used to apply this cleanser plumps and lifts the skin. The muslin cloth exfoliates the skin.I promise you your natural facial oils will return and your dry patces will be a problem you realised that was caused through excessive use of harsh products.I do not need moisturisers any more but I use the Eve Lom sunscreen.Oh and the products last for ages. Please give this a go you will be won over.Just read this back through sounds a bit earth mother so I will redeem myself by adding that after a really hard nights drinking and smoking the product and massage drain all the puffiness from my eyes!

It may be that the products you are already using are aggravating your skin which probably isn't dry and is irritated. I had the same problem as you and E45 is working wonders for me. I use it as my daily moisturiser and it's a heap cheaper than many other moisturisers out there. Get it from the baby section in the supermarket and it's a bit cheaper than looking for it in the cosmetics aisles.

Aldi's have a fantastic mousturiser called siana which is great for flaky skin. I have really sensitive skin and this, coupled with the night cream, has made a big difference. It's only a few pounds too, which can't be bad!

If you are still flaky after really letting moisturiser sink in I would try a silicone based skin primer like Estee Lauders Perfectionist or - a cheaper option is Smoothing Mattifying gel from Marks and Spencer. The primers have a super smooth 'slippery' sort of feel and should give you a perfectly smooth base. Apply sparingly - a little goeas a long way!!
